A baby pelham has short shanks. A pelham strap can be used to connect the two rings, so just one rein is needed. The effect is a bit softer than riding with two reins. The process of rusting (oxidization) changes the blue color of the Trust bit to a brownish - grey. A sweet iron bit will develop an orange-brow rust layer on the mouthpiece if it is temporarily not used. This is easily removed by wiping it off with a damp cloth.
